Dr. Jack Forester, director of the New Canterbury University Hospital emergency department, is struggling to modernize the ED despite fierce office politics, national media coverage, and the obstruction of the power-hungry new Dean, Bryson Witner, when someone tries to murder Jack’s Nobel Prize-winning ally and mentor, former Dean James Gavin, and make it look like a suicide attempt. As Jack begins to uncover facts that suggest that Gavin is not the first victim — nor the last — of a terrifying murderer at large, he and beautiful hearing-impaired author and investigative reporter Zellie Andersen begin to uncover hidden truths, furtive conspiracy, and madness, and death becomes a desperately personal affair.

Jack Forester series #2
“This sequel is just what the doctor ordered and gives the budding franchise a shot of adrenaline.” Kirkus Reviews
“What a treat to meet again Dr. Forester and the cast of engaging, appealing, and consistently drawn characters, in this fast-paced, complex, and expertly plotted thriller. The narration is articulate, the wit subtle, the heroes courageous and devoted, with enough plots, counterplots, treachery, and action for a delightful page-turner. I will look forward to more of Dr. Jack.” – Karen M. Johnson
Jack Forester, Chief of Emergency Medicine at a major Upstate New York medical center and the lead character of author Frank J. Edwards’ previous best-selling medical thriller, Final Mercy, faces the challenge of his life when a religious terrorist undertakes to bomb the medical center to stop a new experimental procedure that could change the rules for women’s reproductive care worldwide. But neither Jack nor the terrorist know that the procedure itself is really a concealed weapon in the hands of a global conspiracy that will stop at nothing to advance its own hidden ends. Jack’s hearing-impaired investigative journalist wife Zellie looks into the case after the mysterious disappearance of several medical personnel, only to find herself kidnapped and at the mercy of the henchmen of the conspirators.

“A smart, suspenseful novel that masterfully intertwines medicine, mystery, and morality.” – Kirkus Reviews
“In Doctor Witch, Frank Edwards performs true literary sorcery: he delivers a wickedly suspenseful novel that also has enormous heart and many comedic moments. These characters and their harrowing adventures will stay with you long after you’ve read the last sentence. A very fine new book from a writer of many gifts.” -Christine Sneed, author of The Virginity of Famous Men and Please Be Advised: A Novel in Memos
“Doctor Witch is a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller written by an author who knows how to craft a spellbinding story. The plot could be straight out of a James Bond movie, but with Frank Edwards’s own unique twists and turns. This stand-alone third in the Jack Forester series is a can’t-put-down tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end.” -Karen Shughart, author of the Edmund DeCleryk mystery series
“There’s far more going on at New Canterbury Medical Center than meets the eye. A megalomaniac who runs a floating nation has the facility in his crosshairs, a beautiful impostor stalks the halls, and a creepy serial killer lurks nearby, too. Frank J. Edwards’s imagination fills the pages with so many twists, turns, and evil plots-good luck putting it down and turning in for the night! A great novel.” – Matt Barrows, coauthor of Muddy the Water
“In his latest in the Jack Forester series, Edwards draws on his own medical and combat experience to deliver a gripping thriller. Losing his job as director of the university’s medical center, Dr. Forester struggles to overcome life-threatening obstacles placed in his way by an international conglomerate. Edwards skillfully casts new light on key events in earlier books (including the death of Forester’s wife) while priming the reader to anticipate future developments.” – Ray Collins, author of Setup and Motive for Murder

Things grow even more perilous when Kaitlyn gets entangled in the villain’s web.
